A practical leadership playbook

Your team takes its cues from you

Managers are often asked to lead AI adoption before anyone has clear answers. People on your team may be curious, worried, overloaded or quietly unsure whether their work still counts.

The Change Lab is not about your personal AI skills. It is about how you show up for others. You practice modeling thoughtful use, including your own uncertainty and checks, listening well, coaching judgment and creating the conditions where people can learn without being stretched too thin.

Leadership practices you will develop

Intended capabilities, applied to your own team and your organization's direction.

  1. Model thoughtful use

Show how you use AI, what you check and where you are still unsure, so others feel able to do the same.

  2. Communicate direction

Explain your organization's goals and AI policies in plain terms, including what is not yet decided.

  3. Listen to concerns

Make room for worries about workload, skills and job security, and respond honestly rather than with reassurance alone.

  4. Coach judgment

Help people decide when to rely on AI, when to check further and when their own expertise should lead.

  5. Clarify quality and review

Agree who reviews what, what good enough looks like and who is accountable when AI is part of the work.

  6. Support learning and responsible experiments

Protect time and energy for learning, watch workload, and set up small experiments with clear boundaries and review points.

What you leave with

Your leadership playbook

A practical guide to how you will support your people as work evolves, built from your real team situations rather than generic scenarios.

It can include

  • How you will talk about AI, direction and uncertainty with your team
  • Questions for one-to-ones that surface concerns and learning needs
  • Quality and review responsibilities for work that involves AI
  • Ways to protect workload, focus and time to learn
  • One responsible experiment with boundaries and a review date

Is it a good fit?

A good fit if you

  • Manage people whose work is changing with AI
  • Want to support adoption without pressuring people or overpromising
  • Are hearing concerns you are not sure how to answer
  • Want clearer quality and review practices on your team

Probably not the right fit if you

  • Mainly want to build your own AI habits. See Rise With AI
  • Need technical training, tool rollout or security approval
  • Are looking for one-to-one support on a wider leadership challenge. See Leadership coaching

Questions about the Change Lab

Do managers need to complete Rise With AI first?

No. Rise is not a prerequisite. Managers with an established foundation can start with the Change Lab. If you want to strengthen your own practice first, Rise may be a better starting point, and we can help you decide.

How is the program structured?

The format is agreed with your organization based on your goals, your managers and your AI policies. Get in touch and we will talk through what would work.

Do we need approved AI tools in place?

No. The focus is leadership practice. Any workplace application follows your organization's policies, and prepared examples can be used where AI access is not yet approved.

Can individual managers sign up?

The Change Lab is currently arranged through organizations. If you are a manager interested in it, email us and we can talk about options, including coaching.
